Some of my favorite things on etsy this month. even more icy blues and whites, hot reds, woodsy textures and images.  I made a treasury too:

This time of year I begin racking my brain about Christmas. Do I really need anything? What would make me happy to receive?  There are always little things that I never deem acceptable to spend money on. Socks, kitchen gadgets and non-thrifted basics all fall into this category. Then there's things I simply can't afford. Leather shoes, a sewing machine. It's difficult to find a balance around this season between "I want I want I want", and "don't give me anything because I have too much stuff". For me it has become a thoughtful reflection of the qualities that give me happiness. Comfort, warmth, and the ability to create.

Pinboard, lately

Using Pinterest to make a vision board for my paintings, design etc. Love the combo of red/orange and blue; nordic folk patterns; woodland creatures; creamy neutral bases; typography; blankets.

 making messes is necessary, but gets in the way of my eating noodles in a civilized fashion. Art days tend to coincide with eating-dinner-on-the-couch days.

lately i'm obsessed with the arctic- watching bbc's frozen planet, drawing deers and bears and seals. i'm researching scandinavian and laplander folk art, native alaskan motifs and baltic costume.

i'm painting all manner of blubbery beasts and frozen water.
